Last Week Reminders: (Hard to believe!)

  • Yearbooks are being sent home today. Be on the lookout!
  • Ice Cream Day is Monday. Your child can wear something in the color of his/her favorite ice cream.
  • Early Release: Tuesday, May 21st  and Wednesday, May 22nd
  • On the last day, this Wednesday, May 22nd, students will not be able to bring book bags, nor lunch boxes home. Please send all lunches and snacks in disposable containers.
  • Fourth Quarter Report Cards will be on ParentVue. These will be posted on Friday, May 24th at 5 p.m.

Reminders: 

  • HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of our wonderful mothers. I hope you enjoy your gift and card!!!
  • Tritt Tiger Town-Volunteers Still Needed! This Friday, May 17th from 8:30-10:00 a.m.! Parents are still needed to help me set up for/run  the “Carnival” portion of our fun-filled day. Please email me if you can help.
  • Please send in your child’s library books!! They were due May 9th, so they all need to be turned in!
  • Theme Days will start this Monday, May 13th. Please read below for information on what your child can wear, if you choose!
  • This Friday, May 17th, please send in a sturdy bag with your child to start bringing materials home!

What We’re Learning:

This week we will be learning all subjects thematically, which means that all academic activities will be related to the “Theme of the Day.” Please read below for recommended colors for our students to wear. This is optional, of course!

Reminders:

  • Our Writers’ Showcase: This Wednesday, May 8th from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. in our classroom.
  • Please send in your child’s library books this Monday, May 6th. We are going to the ILC and all books need to be turned in this week!
  • Theme Days will start Monday, May 13th . PLEASE read the yellow sheet that was sent home on Wednesday for instructions.
  • There will be no more Homework Folders sent home this month. However, I am asking you to read every night with your child for 20 minutes; set your timers! I may send home some optional math homework this week related to analog time, as well.

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will be learning about analog time to the hour and half hour.

Reading- I will be assessing students’ reading levels this week and we will review all of the reading skills we have learned this year i.e. story elements, characters, asking questions, point of view and central message..

Writing-We will be reviewing all writing pieces we have worked on this year: narrative, informational and opinion pieces.

Phonics: We will review all Quarter 4 words.

Content-We will be working on some surprise Mother’s Day gifts for all of our amazing moms!

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will be adding two 2-digit numbers such as 34+52=30+50=80 and 4+2=6, so 80+6=86. Please keep working on all addition and subtraction facts to 20.

Reading- We will continue comparing and contrasting texts on the same topic. There will be an assessment on Friday. We will take our third and final RI (Reading Inventory) later in the week.

Writing-We will be reviewing all writing pieces we have worked on this year: narrative, informational and opinion pieces.

Phonics: We will learn about the”aw” sound: “al” as in talk, “aw” draw, and “a” as in small.

Social Studies-We will continue learning about the heroic Ruby Bridges. We will also see a play about her this week!

Reminders:

  • Save the Date!! Our Writers’ Showcase: Wednesday, May 8th from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.  
  • Calling all Cleaning Wipes (Kleenex Wet Wipes, Wet Ones)! We try to clean the desks every day and are almost out, again! If you happen to be out and about this weekend, I’d appreciate any donations!  

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will be solving word problems with missing minuend and subtrahend (our skill from last week).

Reading- We will be comparing and contrasting texts on the same topic.

Writing-We will review opinion writing this week and will write an opinion piece on a fun spring topic.

Phonics: We will learn about the “er”, ir”  and “ur” combination in words like sister, first and turn.

Social Studies-We will start learning about the heroic Ruby Bridges who is sure to be an inspiration to all!

S.T.E.A.M. Our class loved making their creations with the purpose of scaring off animals who may threaten the plants in our garden. Please check out our Seesaw posts.

Week of April 8th!

Reminders:

  • Cobb County Spring Break: Monday April 1st through Friday, April 5th. Enjoy!!
  • Atlanta Zoo Trip: Tuesday, April 9th, the first Tuesday we get back! Zoo Reminder letters and Chaperone letters went home this week. Please read these for our trip! Please send your child in his/her purple Tritt t-shirts!

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will be adding 3 addends, such as 8+6+2=16. We will use the strategy of adding 2 addends, then the third. We will also look for addends that add to 10. We will also be solving word problems with 3 addends.

Reading- We will be making connections in our reading between individuals, events, ideas or pieces of information in what we are reading.

Writing-We will be writing a narrative piece about our Spring Breaks.

Phonics: We will learn about the “oi” and “oy” combination in words like voice and enjoy.

Science-We will start learning about the beautiful world of plants.

  • Quarter 3 Report cards go live today at 2 p.m.
  • Our zoo trip is Tuesday, April 9th. This is the first Tuesday we get back from Spring Break, so Zoo reminder letters, as well as Chaperone letters will go home this Wednesday.

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will learn about the names and defining attributes (sides and vertices) of 3-D shapes (cylinders, cubes) as well as partitioning shapes into equal parts, halves and quarters.

Reading- We will continue differentiating between finding out the answers to questions  by using the text vs. using pictures.

Writing-We will be spiraling back to information writing this week.

Phonics: We will learn about the “ou” and “ow” combination is words like house and crown.

Social Studies-We will continue learning about George Washington Carver and his contributions to the wonderful world of plants. There will be an assessment this week.

  • Quarter 3 Report cards go live this Friday, March 22nd on Parent Vue!

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will learn about the names and defining attributes (sides and vertices) of 2-D shapes.

Reading- We will differentiate between finding out the answers to questions  by using the text vs. using pictures.

Writing-We will be writing persuasive writing pieces this week.

Phonics: We will learn about the “Soft Cindy” rule for soft c and g. If they are followed by and e or an i, they are soft.

Social Studies-We will start learning about George Washington Carver and his contributions to the wonderful world of plants.

S.T.E.A.M. Our class did an awesome job creating their habitats! Please check out your child’s picture on Seesaw.

Week of March 11th!

Reminders:

  • Please send in your Atlanta Zoo permission slips. Please make sure to fill out both sides!
  • Please send back your child’s registration form for next year. These were also sent home and have the bright yellow instruction sheet on them.
  • We’re going to the ILC on Tuesday. Please send your child’s library books in.
  • This Wednesday, March 13th is Early Release!
  • THANK YOU for all of my books from the Book Fair! I really appreciate your generosity!

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will start subtracting by multiples of 10, i.e. 87-30=57.

Reading- I will complete all final reading assessments for Quarter 3.  We will also spiral back to all of our previously learned reading skills for review this week.

Writing-We will wrap up our Opinion Writing Unit and there will be an assessment.

Phonics: We will review all long vowel words for Quarter 3.

Science: We will wrap up our unit on animals this week.

S.T.E.A.M. Students will create a habitat for an animal with their group members.  Parents are welcome to come watch from 8:15-9:30, this Wednesday, March 13th!
