Reminders:

  • We will be going to the ILC on Wednesday this week. Please send in your child’s library books. We can’t go on Tuesday this week due to S.T.E.A.M.

What We’re Learning:

Math– We will be moving on to identifying equal equations. For example: 6+4=7+3. Student will have to identify equations as true or false. 3+6=5+4 is a True statement. 2+7=8+2 is a False Statement. I will teach students to solve each side before comparing.

Reading- This week I will start Q2 Reading Assessments. We will also continue reading fun, holiday themed books while reviewing all of the reading skills we have learned so far this year: Characters, Setting, Beginning, Middle, End, Asking Questions, Main Idea and Author’s Purpose.

Writing-We will be writing “How To” books about making gingerbread cookies. This will culminate our Informational Writing unit. Students have done a very nice job writing teaching and how to books this quarter.

Phonics-We will be reviewing all the phonics skills that we learned in Q2: blends and digraphs.

Social Studies-We will be wrapping up our unit on Thomas Jefferson. We will finish our teaching books about him and all of his contributions.

S.T.E.A.M. Students will be creating their own versions of The Gingerbread Man by creating their own characters, refrain, and ending. They will be creating their characters out of supplies and will then act out their versions with musical instruments of their choice.

Have a Wonderful Week!
