  1. February Homework Calendars are due Friday, March 2nd (the Friday we get back). March homework calendars will be sent home Monday, March 5th.

What We’re Learning This Week:

Math-This week will use our missing addend skills and will apply them to solving word problems. They will have to apply their knowledge to create the correct number sentences, as well as solving the word problems.

Reading– This week we will  learn about Point of View, or who is telling a story, how we know this, as well as how this affects the story. Students can also practice this at home this week with their reading responses.

Phonics- This week we will be learning about words with the long i sound spelled with, “igh, as in right, ye, as in eye,  ind, as in kind and ie, as in tie.”  This will be the hardest spelling test yet, and may require some extra studying time!

Writing-We will continue our Opinion Writing unit until the beginning of the 4th quarter. This week we will work more on the revision process by adding revision strips to their writing. They will be adding “Wow!” sentences including more interesting details and more vivid vocabulary. They are ready!

Science-We will begin our fun unit on light and shadows. Students will be experimenting, playing games and going on scavenger hunts to discover all there is to learn about this interesting topic!

S.T.E.M. Our S.T.E.M. project this week will be a project related to our light and shadow unit. Students will have to write and create a puppet show, with the central message of kindness. This will be a healthy challenge that they will all enjoy!

Have a wonderful week!
