What We’re Learning This Week:

Math-This week will practice answering addition problems with missing addends, i.e. 8+?=15. Please make sure you are working with you children at home on their math flashcards every day!

Reading– This week we will continue comparing and contrasting the experiences and adventures of characters in the different stories that they read. While your child reads this week, ask him or her about how the character’s experiences and adventures compare/contrast with those of other characters.

Phonics- This week we will be learning about words with the long e sound spelled with, “ea and ee,” as in speak and street. We will discuss the phonics rule, “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.”

Writing-We will continue our Opinion Writing unit until the beginning of the 4th quarter. This week we will work more on the revision process by adding revision strips to their writing. They will be adding “Wow!” sentences including more interesting details and more vivid vocabulary. They are ready!

Social Studies-Our class had so much fun “broadcasting” from the Great Falls and Rocky Mountains to tell all that they learned about the adventures of Lewis, Clark and Sacagawea. This week we will wrap up our unit on Teddy Roosevelt.

S.T.E.M. Our S.T.E.M. project this week will be a Valentine-themed building challenge that our class will surely “love!”

Have a wonderful week!
