Stay Warm this Weekend!

Important Reminders:

  • A big THANK YOU to Alyse’s mom, Brenda, for coming in and teaching our class all about Hanukkah. We had SO much fun reading stories, eating latkes, and playing the Dreidel game.
  • This Wednesday we will be going to the ILC! Please send in all library books!
  • Continue having your child read to you for 20 minutes every night, as well as practice his/her addition and subtraction flashcards. Just a little bit each day goes a LONG way!

What We’re Learning This Week:

Math-This week we will continue reinforcing our math facts to 20 and their related fact families. We will also continue applying our math skills while solving word problems. This month we will also spend time reviewing all the new skills that we have learned this year.

Reading– This week I will be assessing student’ reading levels, sight word recognition and comprehension skills. Believe it or not, we are at the end of the second quarter! We will also be reviewing all of the strategies we have learned this year so far: main idea and supporting details, story elements: characters, setting, plot, and author’s purpose. I have finished reading a Magic Tree House book to the class and we are on to an A-Z Mystery!

Phonics- This week we will continue reviewing consonant blends and final e.

Writing-We will continue learning about singular and plural nouns. We will also be writing about our favorite things about this season!

Social Studies-We will be finishing our informational pieces on Thomas Jefferson.

S.T.E.M.- This month we will be engaging in fun, holiday-themed STEM projects!
