What We’re Learning This Week:

Math-We will be adding numbers to 20 now. Please make or buy flashcards to practice with your children at home each night. It is very helpful for them to memorize these facts!

Reading– This week we will build on our understanding of Fiction vs. Nonfiction and will focus on all of the text features of Nonfiction books: Table of Contents, Glossary, Index, Heading and Captions.

Phonics- Our phonics skill this week will be words that end in m and f blends. We will have a test this Friday.

Writing-We will start our Informational Writing Unit this week! This is always a big hit. Students will get to write a “How To” book on something that they are an expert in and will get to teach the class.

Social Studies-This week we will start our unit on the brilliant founding father, Benjamin Franklin. This is an awesome unit and the students are always so amazed at all of his contributions to our modern society.

S.T.E.M.- Everyone LOVED making their weather instruments! You may have had yours brought home already! This week, students will get to be “inventors,” emulating Benjamin Franklin. We will kick off this fun S.T.E.M. project this week.
